Spotlight Studio of Dance is home to the award winning Spotlight Dance Company, better known as SPOCO! Our company provides an opportunity for truly serious dancers to train and compete in both regional and national competitions throughout the year.
The Company curriculum is based on a four day program of 4 to 4.5 hours of classes each day. Classes include Ballet, Pointe, Conditioning, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Contemporary. Students will learn proper technique for each discipline and will be properly conditioned and toned for the stresses that this beautiful art form can bring. Levels are determined by placement classes at the sole discretion of the director.
A minimal rehearsal schedule is built into the schedule. There will be additional charges for rehearsals once the maximum hours of rehearsals have been met. In the case of Master Choreographers, fees for choreography and rehearsals will be determined and then divided by the number of students in each number.
Spotlight Dance Company competes in one competition per month starting in or before January. We attend at least two workshop competitions/conventions every year. Every effort is made not to attend two competitions within the same month, however this is not always the case.
A parent meeting is held at the beginning of each dance season in which parents are given the competition schedule for the entire year. Both parents and dancers are required to sign a Company Contract, and pay a mandatory company fee, in order to participate in the company. We attend a National Competition every year.
We promote fun and bonding among our SPOCO dancers, and host numerous social events throughout the year. Pool parties, formal dances, and pot lucks are all examples of social events we have hosted for company members in the past. Each year we host a holiday party where dancers will participate in small gift exchange.
Any and all questions regarding company fees or tuition should be directed to our Administrative Director, Mrs. Betsy Shead. The Artistic Director does not handle financial issues of any kind.
