Spotlight Studio of Dance is incredibly proud of our alumni network. Alumni often come back to take class, and to participate in our annual Alumni Number. JazzFuzion and Oasis Dance Ensemble are award winning professional performance groups made up of Spotlight Alumni.

JazzFuzion Performs on Broadway for Breast Cancer

August 23, 2011 - New York, NY

JazzFuzion and members of the Spotlight company had the honor of performing in Joelle Constantino's second annual presentation of Another Impression, a night of dance to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The performance was held at Peter Norton's Symphony Space located on 96th and Broadway in New York City. Alumni and company members performed two group pieces, "When the Women Gather" and this year's alumni number, a compilation of Mrs. Wyndee's choreography from throughout the years.


Spotlight Alumni Present Memorial Award 

July 18, 2011 - Atlantic City, NJ 

In 2010 Spotlight Studio of Dance received the Rachel Bascietto Award for Creative Distinction at the United States Tournament of Dance national competition in Atlantic City. Rachel Bascietto, who passed away in 2010, was a teacher and choreographer at Horizons Dance Center, and an advocate for unique choreography and strong technique in competition dancers.

Spotlight was extremely proud to receive this award in Rachel's honor, and was asked to present the award to a new studio at USTD Nationals in 2011. To present the award Spotlight Alumni graduating as far back as 2003 came to Atlantic City to perform a compilation of Mrs. Wyndee's choreography at the closing night gala.


Oasis Dance Ensemble Wins Silver at Jazz Dance World Congress

July 24, 2009 - Chicago, Illinois

Oasis Dance Ensemble, made up of Spotlight Alumni, and under the direction of Spotlight's own Michelle Smith won the Silver Shoe at the 2009 Jazz Dance World Congress. The International Leo's Choreography Competition is an extremely prestigious competition, showcasing work by top choreographers from all over the world. Oasis performed Michelle's original piece "Open Up Your Eyes" to earn themselves second place and the Silver medal at this world renowned competition.
