Classes & Tuition

Spotlight Studio of Dance uses a system of levels in placing students within each class. Students are placed based on age and years of dance experience, as well as level of technique shown, size, musicality, coordination and their ability to focus and accept corrections in class. Therefore, each class will meet the needs of the majority.

It is important for students and their parents to understand that dancers may not change levels every year. At the end of the year based on teachers evaluations, student placements are determined. It is our sincere intent to place each student in a class level which will provide the most positive learning experience.

Pre School Combo

A child's first experience with dance. A combination of an introduction to  both ballet and tap. These classes are offered in two levels determined by the students age (either 3-4 or 5-6). The students receive a half an hour of each discipline.

Duration: Academic Year

Pre-School Ballet

This class introduces the child to the structure of a traditional ballet class.

Duration: Academic Year

Class Length: 1 hour

Age Group: 3-4 yrs

Ballet 1 to 4

Continued training in ballet technique. For more experienced dancers, Pointe classes are also offered.

Duration: Academic year

Class Length: 1  to 2 hours

 Company Ballet

Company members are required to take 3 ballet classes per week.. Pointe is offered, and recommended, for company members who are deemed ready by an instructor.

Duration: Academic year

Class Length: 1  to 2 hours

Jazz, Tap,  and Hip-Hop

These classes are offered at Beginner, Pre-Teen and Adult levels. Company are also offered these classes, as well as lyrical.

Duration: Academic year

Class Length: 1 to 1.5 hour

Conditioning

Along with ballet, Conditioning is the core of our Company program. This rigorous class focuses on strength, technique and development of the advanced dancer. Non-Company members may be permitted to take this class through audition.
