Registration for fall classes begins June 2011 for returning
students, and July 1 for new students. To register please bring
$55/&75 for families for a registration fee, and fill out a
registration form at the front desk.
The SMART Tuition Plan
In order to simplify our administrative issues, we employ a
professional third party billing service. Please visit the SMART
website, or ask at the front desk to learn more about how the
service operates. To enroll in the SMART Tuition plan please ask
for the necessary paperwork from the front desk.
Tuition is due by the 1st of each month, and a late fee may be
added to payments not received by the 10th. Accounts will not be
adjusted when a student misses class, and tuition will not be
refunded for any withdrawals prior to the end of the month.

Policies
Facility
- Smoking is not permitted in any part
of the facility
- Food and beverages are not allowed in
the studio unless permission is given by the staff. Water
bottles with sport tops are permitted in all areas.
- Please - no running inside or outside
the studio.
- Street shoes are not to be worn in the
studios. Students must wear dance shoes only, parents and
siblings are asked to remove their street shoes if they enter a
studio.
- Animals are not allowed in the studios
or on the front lawn.
- Everyone is welcome to be in our
waiting area; however parents assume full responsibility for the
actions and behavior of all children under their supervision.
Parents will be asked to remove children whose behavior or
excessive noise- making is disruptive to the dance classes or
any other function at the studio.
- Parents assume all responsibility for
breakage of studio property or damage to the facility done by
their children enrolled or otherwise. Only dancers are allowed
in the studios and dressing area. Siblings and friends are asked
to remain in the waiting area.
- For the safety of all children, no one
is permitted to stand on the windowsill or any furniture in the
lobby area.
Drop off / Pickup Procedures
- Children under the age of 9 must be
accompanied into the building by an adult who stays until the
beginning of their class.
- Please drop your 9 and older dancer at
the studio no sooner than ten minutes before their class starts.
Teachers are not available to supervise your children prior to
or at the end of class. Dancers are expected to behave
appropriately and to wait in the dressing room or lobby area
until the teacher escorts them to class.
- Your are expected to pick up your
child promptly after class.
Cancellations, Snow and Inclement Weather
- The studio will follow Anne Arundel County School closing
procedures.
- In the event of severe weather after school hours, please
call the studio before classes begin for further information.
Classes
- All students are expected to be on
time and properly attired and groomed for their classes. Please
refer to the dress code.
- Hair must be neat for all students.
- Hanging on the barres, touching the
mirrors and talking during class are not permitted.
- Proper behavior is expected of all
students. Students are expected to treat faculty, fellow dancers
and studio property with respect.
- Four make up classes are allowed per
year. Classes may be made- up in another class of the same or
lower level. All classes must be made up prior to March 1st.
- Faculty is subject to change.
- Spotlight Studio of Dance reserves the
right to cancel/combine classes due to insufficient enrollment.
Dress Code
Check out the studio store for all your dance supply needs!
| Ballet:
Female students should wear a black
leotard and pink tights. Male students
should wear a plain t-shirt and loose
sweat/jazz pants. Split soled ballet shoes
are preferred. Pre-school students need pink
full soled ballet shoes. |
Jazz/Lyrical/Conditioning:
Loose dance clothes, jazz pants,
leotard and tights. Check with teacher for
the type of shoes preferred.

| Tap:
Pre-School classes require Black
Patent tap shoes up through level 2. Level 3
and up should consult with the teacher. |
Hip-Hop: Students
should wear white soled sneakers or black
jazz sneakers. Black soled street shoes and
Timberland style boots will not be accepted. |
Hair and Jewelry: All hair must be
secured and off the face. Long hair must be
in a ponytail, except for ballet where buns
are mandatory. No distracting items of
jewelry can be worn. This includes long
earrings, bracelets, necklaces and toe
rings. Students will be asked to remove said
items if the teacher finds them distracting. |
